Welcome to Shelley Reynolds Photography!

Sessions with Shelley are low-key and meant to be fun. She will balance the session with traditional images we all like to have and images that bring out your child's personality and truly capture the moment.

Location

Shelley is a natural light photographer and needs good natural light to create beautiful portraits. The location of your session is completely up to you, although Shelley can offer suggestions.

When planning an outdoor session, early mornings or evenings provide the best lighting. Also, open shade must be available. Non-traditional spaces like a front porch or the neighborhood park are great possibilities.

If you prefer indoors, Shelley may schedule some time before the session to view the location and study the light. Children's bedrooms, playrooms, and other well-lit rooms can make creative and fun backdrops.

Timing

Most sessions will last from one to two hours. As a mother of three, Shelley understands that it takes time for a child to feel comfortable and relaxed. Sessions are not rushed and provide time for feedings, changes, or just to let your child explore. Choose a time of day when your child is usually happy and well rested.

Newborns photograph best within the first two weeks of life while they're still curled up and sleepy. When planning a newborn session, please contact Shelley before the birth of your child.

What to Wear

Clothing choices are very important to getting portraits you will love. Avoid busy patterns or insignia, solid colors are recommended. Textures such as denim and khaki or knit sweaters photograph well, especially for black and white photos. Bare skin is great for babies and bare feet look great on any age. For families, please dress in coordinating outfits. If you're not sure what to wear, you can discuss options with Shelley during your consultation.

Parent Participation

Parents are welcome to observe and "help" when needed. But keep in mind that depending on the age, children may be more cooperative and comfortable if the parents observe quietly or even step away. You know your child best -- feel free to give Shelley any insight to help her capture their little personality.

Photo Release

Shelley may use images from your session on her website or as samples to show clients. You will therefore be asked to sign a release form as part of the session. Please let Shelley know if you do not feel comfortable with your images being shared.
